There is an option to do a Split Buy from Jaycar and Rockby. the optocoupler is cheaper at Jaycar, and also Rockby's midi ports are not suitable for Surface mounting, and are cheaper at Jaycar. (levon)
Is there a reason the rockby midi ports are not suitable? they look pretty standard to me... (durisian)
I sware someone changed the image on the rockby site, when i checked a while ago it wasn't a surface mounting port, what im confused is the plug says its 180deg.. not 90deg like the image (levon)
still , the optocouplers at jaycar are alot cheaper.. $13 for a 10 pack at jaycar... $19 for 10 at rockby.
we would save around 50c per midi port. seeing as we are buying 219 optocouplers and 438 midi ports... thats about $250 difference.
We are now looking at 100+ for almost all items
I have been doing some calculations in spreadsheets, looks like we will get the following prices:
